| Customer Reviews: Thoroughly surprised August 22, 2010 Dr Don (New England) Because my basic cable service was weak and provided poor signal/band width (causing sound loss and pixillation), I finally decided to try some air antennas for my HDTV (which uses a Samsung DTB-H260F tuner) and evaluated several models ranging from this one to around the $70 price range, both passive and amplified types. Short version - this cheapest antenna (purchased for a mere $10) not only pulled in 14 digital stations, it provided a far superior picture to all the rest. In fact, some of the amplified antennas LOST reception when the gain was turned up too high. This antenna works the best for me and requires no additional power. I am thrilled. Obviously, the key to air antennas is not as much a factor of the antenna quality as is your precise location, terrain, etc. with respect to the broadcasting stations (I am in the Hartford, CT area). All I am saying is that if you get a great picture with an expensive air antenna, you might want to try a cheapie like this one to see whether you also can get similarly surprising results. Things like this seldom work for me, so I wanted to post this note to advise the rest of you. You can always return an antenna if it does not work.
Good value ... June 3, 2010 tola497 (Rochester, NY) Light antenna, space-saver, hassle-free install. Blends well with my black TV stand. Easy to use - simply rotate clockwise or counter-clockwise. Picture quality is good ... wouldn't exactly call it "great" but given the price, I'd say it's one of the better deals!
decent product May 30, 2010 P. Ho (New England) I bought this at the store to test since it was a pretty cheap product. I was expecting to return it with the expectation of another "waste the money" antenna.
To my surprise, it has picked up more channels than my old ugly antenna. I am able to mount this on the wall, and turn it like the lazy susan to adjust the reception. I am going to buy another one soon for my laptop USB HDTV tuner. Both Samsung TV and Laptop Kworld USB HDTV tuner worked beautifully.
Location: Boston, MA Picked up all channels except 38.
Worked Perfectly January 6, 2010 Pragmatist (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I live 23 miles from a major city center and wanted to try a hi def antenna to see if I could wean myself off cable. Amazingly, this worked perfectly. The top rotates to aim the antenna, and once I got a weak channel, I let my TV program the rest. I got 41 channels, plus 3 more that were only broadcasting the rainbow picture (they were off air). Signal quality on all but two was excellent, with the two a bit spotty. Can't give it five stars as I didn't try any others, But from reviewing the signals that should be available in my area, it appears I got virtually all of them, with no further adjusting of the antenna, or changing the rotation of the antenna between channels. Essentially set and forget. I have hooked up the antenna directly to my TV, as I didn't need a converter box, since my TV has a digital tuner built in. Overall, the perfect choice for me. The black, low profile shape is not large and dumb looking like most of the antenna's with telescoping arms or weird shapes, and my wife was likewise adamant she didn't want an "ugly" antenna - this one is very unobtrusive.
Esthetically pleasing October 14, 2009 B. Mobarry 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
When I wanted a new antenna for the digital changeover, I tried several antennae: classic rabbit ears and loop, amplified loop (Philips Mant510, SDV6122, SDV2720/27), RCA ant1050, Radio Shack 1892 (the UFO), and the TERK HDTVa. The Radio Shack 1892 and TERK HDTVa worked the best but I ran into a new problem- my wife told me that they were too ugly. So I went to the "sells for less" store and picked up the Philips sdv3132. It was small (about 11 inches in diameter and about an inch high) and eye-pleasing- black and round. Imagine my surprise when I attached it and found it to work as well as most of the other antennae I tried, despite its petite dimensions! Wife approved, husband gets to watch TV. :-)
